 | My PowerBook G4 is not a "laptop" because it would render my thighs medium-rare if i were to keep it on my lap for extended periods of time. I told my wife, <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/bridgmanpottery">Melissa</a>, that I might be able to use this big roll of vintage lawn-furniture webbing (that I bought on impulse at a thrift store) as part of a lap-frame. She replied, "like a lap desk?" and then pulled out one of our little-used bamboo serving trays and got all Martha Stewart-mates-with-McGyver on me. It protects my body from radiant heat and allows air to pass freely under the computer's core reactor, creating a tropical micro-climate on the tray's surface that will no doubt begin generating new forms of life that will easily survive global warming. They will revere Melissa as their creator. I, for one, will have no other goddesses before her. |
